Tenkasi was separated from Tirunelveli in 2019 and takes in the western edge of the far south, right up against the Western Ghats. Courtallam, with its falls, gives the district a season of its own, and the hills make the weather noticeably cooler and wetter than in the surrounding plains.
That is a genuine technical difference. Damp air works against set hair, and the temperature drop in the evening changes how a base sits, so venues near the hills are planned differently from a hall out on the plain at Sankarankovil.
Weddings themselves are traditional in structure, with temple ceremonies and early muhurtham timings, and there is a substantial Muslim population around Kadayanallur and Puliangudi, so nikah and walima bookings are part of the district's normal calendar too.
